University Preparatory Academy Middle School was the first school in the University Preparatory Academy K-12 system. It opened its doors in 2000 with 112 6th grade students in the basement of a church appropriately named, "The Promised Land." In September of the following year, University Prep Middle School moved to its permanent home at 5310 St. Antoine, in the heart of Detroit's Cultural Center. The school is now at its maximum capacity, serving 408 students in grades 6-8. As the middle link in University Prep Academy's K-12 system, the Middle School offers an exciting and comprehensive program that has been carefully designed to provide a rigorous academic experience for every student, and that is tailored to each child's individual skills and interests. Through the development of individual learning plans, the use of research-based instructional programs, real-world learning, and a strong fine arts program, University Prep Middle School students are provided with all the resources they need to discover and pursue their passion for learning.
