University Prep Middle School Recruitment Meeting – All parents of current 5th grade students are invited to attend a Middle School recruitment meeting on Wednesday, February 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at University Prep Middle School (5310 St. Antoine Street). The program will include a brief video that introduces the outstanding UPA Middle School program in the words and stories of students, parents and staff; an overview of a typical student day; an explanation of the curriculum, including our strong arts programs; a description of extracurricular activities; and a panel of staff, students and parents to answer questions. All parents of current 5th grade students are strongly encouraged to attend.

The next regular meeting of the Public School Academies of Detroit Board will be held on Tuesday, February 9th from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Red Building of University Prep High School. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
Healthy Community Kick-off | Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 4:00-6:00 p.m. | University Prep High School Gym
On Wednesday, February 10th, University Prep Academy will hold the kick-off event for its 2010 Healthy Community, Strong Community Wellness Initiative. This event will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the High School gym. All students, parents and staff are encouraged to attend. Activities will include: interactive stations that showcase a variety of wellness activities will be offered at different University Prep Academy schools over the next few months, healthy snacks, giveaways/door prizes and most exciting of all – an inspiring talk by Detroit native, Pete Thomas, the 2005 winner of the Biggest Loser Challenge. We hope to gather a huge crowd, so plan to mark your calendars to attend. Check out the free opportunities to learn to eat well, stay healthy, get fit and help us turn into the strongest community in Detroit!
