DONATION & SUPPORT INFORMATION

University Preparatory Academy (UPA) is committed to providing the children of Detroit with a public education that leads to college and life success. Last year, University Prep High School graduated 100% of its students from high school and send 94% on to college. 90% of UPA students from our first graduating class in June 2007 that enrolled in four-year colleges are still in college.

However, despite the fact that we take all of our students through a blind lottery and educate the same children as the Detroit Public Schools (DPS), we receive $3,000 less per student than DPS schools. Our expenses are comparable, but our public revenues are nearly 25% less. It means we need to raise funds from private sources to meet our ambitious education objectives. In addition, we work to make sure each of our graduates has the financial support available to afford college. The bottom line: We have to raise significant amounts of money from private sources to insure that our children are successful.
